                                                                                             Mexico Project Director

Location:    Mexico City (Local Hire)

Deadline to Apply: March 25, 2020

At the Solidarity Center, we believe that all people who work should receive the rewards of their labor—decent paychecks and benefits, safe jobs, respect and fair treatment. We believe that economic and social injustice around the world are neither intractable problems nor acceptable byproducts of a global economy where some can win at the expense of many. Rather, we believe that working women and men can collectively improve their wages and workplaces, call on their governments to uphold laws and protect human rights, and be a force for democracy, shared prosperity and inclusive economic development.

In Mexico, we work with allies to strengthen democratic worker organizations, to increase the organizing and bargaining capacity of unions and grassroots organizations, and to empower workers, especially women, to defend their rights at work and in their communities.

Summary of Position

The Solidarity Center is seeking a Project Director to join a team for a US Government-funded program to support effective labor law enforcement in Mexico. This position, and its duration, is contingent upon project funding. The anticipated start date for this position is April 2020.

The Project Director will be responsible for implementation of all aspects of the project, including strategic planning, program coordination, reporting, and executing partnership agreements and subgrants. Extensive travel within Mexico is required. This position will report to the Country Program Director and will supervise a project monitoring and evaluation (M&E) officer.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years of experience in project management.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish (written and spoken).
  • Experience establishing and maintaining systems for project operations.
  • Experience in strategic planning and performance measurement, including indicator selection, target setting, reporting, database management, and developing M&E and performance monitoring plans.
  • Proven success in designing, implementing, and operating project M&E systems from project initiation to closeout stages.
  • Ability to work independently while also working within a team.
  • Ability to manage the demands of a dynamic, mission-driven office.
  • Experience building and maintaining working relations with a range of stakeholders.
  • Experience and sensitively working with vulnerable groups.
  • Excellent writing and communications skills with diverse audiences, including drafting project reports and technical documents.
